چکیده

The low-frequency Raman spectra of dioxane aqueous solutions have been analyzed from a dynamical aspect of water structure. The reduced Raman spectra x9( n̄) of the dioxane aqueous solutions are well explained by a superposition of three characteristic modes of water and one Gaussian mode ~;60 cm! of dioxane. The concentration dependence of x9( n̄) spectra shows that the 190 cm mode of water disappears below about 0.8 molar fraction of water. This molar fraction corresponds to the ratio of four water molecules to one dioxane molecule. This means that the tetrahedral-like structure of water which is formed by five water molecules is almost destroyed below about 0.8 molar fraction. Thus the basic idea of the five water molecules model of liquid water has been confirmed from Raman spectroscopic point of view. © 1996 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~96!51319-9#

Theoretical Study of 1,4-Dioxane in Aqueous Solution and Its Experimental Interaction with Nano-CuSO4

The electronic structure, Non-Linear Optical (NLO) properties and Natural Bonding Orbital (NBO) analysis of 1,4-dioxane were investigated using the theoretical study of Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations at the B3LYP/6-311G (d,p) level of theory. The optimized structure is nonlinear as indicated from the dihedral angles.  Natural bonding orbital analysis has been analyzed in terms...

Vibrational Spectroscopy of Aqueous Sodium Halide Solutions and Air-Liquid Interfaces: Observation of Increased Interfacial Depth

Air-aqueous sodium halide solution interfaces are examined using vibrational sum frequency generation spectroscopy. Raman and ATR-FTIR (attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopies are also used to compare the effects of halide anions on the water structure of the bulk solution to that of the interface. The interfacial water structures for the sodium fluoride and chlor...

Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles

The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...

Changes in Octaethyleneglycol Mono N-Dodecyl Ether Micelles in Aqueous 1,4-Dioxane Solutions

The structures of micelles of the surfactant Octaethyleneglycol mono n-dodecyl ether (C12E8, BL-8SY) in 0–80% aqueous 1,4-dioxane solutions (pH 7.2, ionic strength 2.44 mM) were investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering. C12E8 forms the core–shell discus micelle in 0–80% aqueous 1,4-dioxane solutions. Changing properties of aqueous 1,4-dioxane solution did not affect the outside-shapes of C1...

Structure of Polymeric Nanoparticles in Surfactant-Stabilized Aqueous Dispersions of High-Molar-Mass Hydrophobic Graft Polymers

Aqueous dispersions of hydrophobic high-molar-mass cellulose-graft-polystyrene (Cel-g-PS) copolymers were prepared by nanoprecipitation from dioxane solutions using sodium dodecyl sulfate as a stabilizer. The size and structure of formed Cel-g-PS nanoparticles were studied by scattering techniques (static and dynamic light scattering, SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy. The scattering a...
